  • How long does it take for my grass to come in?

Sometimes during a hardscape installation, your old grass will be killed off, and sometimes it is fully removed for new sod. If you keep your new lawn watered, it usually will begin sprouting new grass within nine to 15 days.

  • Can I weed-treat a new lawn?

It’s not a good idea to treat a reseeded lawn for weeds, since you can easily kill the new grass before it has a chance to get established. The fact is, no matter how high-quality the product is, any newly seeded lawn may include some weeds, and they can be addressed at a later date.

  • How often should I prune my trees?

Pruning depends on the kind of tree you have but, generally speaking, an annual or bi-annual treatment that removes dead branches is recommended. Proper pruning promotes good plant health and helps prevent damage from heavy snow and ice storms , which can otherwise break branches and damage your trees.

  • Do patios require sealing? How often?

Although not an absolute requirement, sealing your patio can help prevent stains, especially from difficult organic matter like leaves. Some patio products come pre-sealed by the manufacturer. Once you seal a concrete patio, you should reseal it every three years or so to keep up its appearance.

  • Is waterfall maintenance required?

Yes, your hardscaped waterfall should be maintained regularly to keep it clean and prevent buildup.

Here at Coomes Landscape Services, we install pond waterfalls and filtered waterfalls.

    • Pond waterfalls require the most maintenance because they naturally tend to build up algae. At the same time, sticks and other matter can prevent water flow and discolor and cloud the water in your pond.
    • Filtered or pondless waterfalls require less maintenance than pond units because the water is always moving and algae has less of a chance to establish itself. Nevertheless, filters should be checked every month of operation and, when they get too dirty, replaced.
